Deutsche Welle: Bericht über “Cello Akademie Rutesheim” mit quattrocelli

10. Juni 2010

Hier der Bericht auf Deutsch:

And here the report in English:

Das Konzert in Rutesheim hat uns sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Es gab eine aufwändige Lichtshow und das Konzert war ausverkauft.
In Rutesheim hatten wir gleichzeitig die Premiere von “crosscurrents” – einer Komposition von Lalo Schifrin (Komponist von “Mission Impossible”) für quattrocelli. Das Stück kam sehr gut an und wird mit Sicherheit einen festen Platz in unserem Programm behalten.

The concert in Rutesheim was a lot of fun. We had a great lightshow and it was sold out.
The premiere of Lalo Schifrin’s (”Mission Impossible”) composition for quattrocelli called “crosscurrents” was a great success and we will keep this piece in our program for a long time.

Hier ein paar Bilder vom Konzert.

playing the last concerts on US-tour 2010: Victorville and Paso Robles, CA

02. April 2010

After staying in Los Angeles we went to Victorville, CA to play our second last concert. It was nice and we already felt that the tour was almost over.
On the next day we had a Sunday afternoon concert in Paso Robles in a church.
It was a nice concert and we hope to come back to the US soon!

Looking back to the tour that was starting on March 5, 2010 we must say: it was great! It was the best tour in the US that we had so far. We had a lot of fun, we visited very interesting cities and we met a lot of really nice people.

meeting Lalo Schifrin in Los Angeles – working with him on the piece “crosscurrents”

02. April 2010

We met Lalo Schifrin at his house in Beverly Hills to work together with him on the new composition that he wrote for quattrocelli. The piece is called “crosscurrents” and we had a lot of fun working with Lalo Schifrin on that piece.
After that we played some pool in his game room and went out for dinner with his wife Donna and him.
We had a great evening and we are very much looking forward to premiering the piece in Rutesheim on May 30, 2010.

Borrego Springs, California – the desert

26. März 2010

Today we had a concert at Borrego Springs, CA. It was one of the smallest places we played on this tour, but still it was a lot of fun. All the hotels were fully booked because of the blooming desert.
And we met some Germans that we know from Stuttgart there. The world is so small…
The landscape is beautiful and everywhere are cactuses and palm trees.

concert in San Bernardino

24. März 2010

The concert in San Bernardino was a lot of fun. We played there 4 years ago and we met some people that saw us at our last concert as well.
Weather is great and palm trees everywhere. What else do you need? We are already in Palm Springs.
Concert at Plam Springs High School tomorrow.

on the road from Los Gatos to San Bernardino – Highway 1

23. März 2010

As we are travelling with two cars we took different routes to San Bernardino. Hartwig and me (Matthias) went down to Bakersfield first.
We took the beautiful Highway 1! But first we all met in Pacific Grove, which is a small city with lots of riffs and big waves. We saw seals and other (for us unknown) creatures.
Later on we enjoyed the great view to the Pacific Ocean from Highway 1 and had some great sushi on a hill while we watched the sunset…
Tomorrow off to San Bernardino, where we all will meet again and have a concert at a concert hall, where we already played a couple of years ago.

concert in Los Gatos / staying in Santa Cruz, CA

22. März 2010

It was again a nice ride through “Silikon Valley” to Los Gatos. Everything is very green here at this time of the year – and lots of palm trees everywhere…
The concert in Los Gatos was great! We even had somebody dancing to our last piece “Misirlou”. The concert was in the afternoon, so we drove to Santa Cruz to stay in a hotel right next to the beach.
We had some fun at the many attractions that are on the famous “Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk” and just enjoyed being at the beach.

on the road from Elko, Nevada to San Francisco – concert in San Francisco

21. März 2010

It was an endless ride from Elko to San Francisco. We went over the mountains and when we got down we suddenly had 28 Celcius! :-)
That was a nice surprise and it was a perfect timing. The weather was great in San Francisco and we had 3 beautiful days in this intersting city. When we arrived the city was full of green people (St. Patrick’s day) and a lot of partys were going on.
Our concert at Amnesia Cafe was really something special. The audience was standing and they were a really great audience! San Francisco has a lot of live music in lots of bars and clubs and the city is very alive. It was a great experience for us and we hope to come back one day. Cellists are very welcome in SF.
We did some sightseeing, had good food and just enjoyed this wonderful city.

When we arrived in Turlock, CA today we got the scores from the new composition that Lalo Schifrin wrote for quattrocelli. We will rehearse it during the tour and meet him in Los Angeles on March 26 to work together with him on the piece. We are very much looking forward to that!
